Since 1996 Highland Rod Company has designed performance fly fishing equipment
to make a day on the lake or stream more productive and easier for the fly angler. We have learned most of our tips and tricks from the school of hard knocks right on the river banks. Our history in competitive fly angling, forced us to focus on every little detail to make the best of our time on the water and to be as productive as possible. In the mid 90’s, three college roommates who were die hard fly fisherman in in the high country mountains of Boone NC, set out to design and make some of the most innovative pieces of fly fishing equipment ever invented. The rods and equipment sat covered in dust in their parents basements for nearly 20 years, until they were found and brought to the public.
Growing up in the mountains of Western North Carolina from working class parents, we wanted to price our equipment to fit the lives of most families. Other fly fishing equipment companies have priced their products to fit only a select few. At Highland Rod Company, our products are affordable to all.

Growing up on the rivers and streams with the mountains as our back yard, we just love nature and all the beauty that God has created. If we can design affordable equipment to help our fellow man to better enjoy their time in the outdoors, then we fill like we have fullfilled our calling.
